Integrative Medicine SIG

Integrative Medicine Special Interest Group: Use of complementary and integrative medicine is high among pediatric gastroenterology patients, yet significant gaps in knowledge exist on the safety and efficacy of these treatments. Treatment modalities include: dietary supplements, botanicals, mind body therapies, stress reduction, movement therapies, whole systems healing traditions such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, and diet counseling. The aim of this special interest group is to promote awareness of integrative medicine use in meds GI, to develop a research agenda for evidence based guidelines of safety and efficacy for common modalities, to provide resources for provider education, and provide examples of how to incorporate an integrative approach to GI practice.
